Larymna, often referred to as Upper Larymna, was according to Strabo originally Lokrian, but eventually joined the Boeotian League. It then became prosperous because its port was of keen use to the Boeotians.

The ruins of the city are still extant.

Of particular interest is the fact that this coin is of the style of Rhodes, but is actually Boeotian.

86 BCE

Sulla destroys Larymna after a victory at Orchomenos.
