Otrus is located between the modern day villages of between Yanıkören and Otluk. In ancient times, it was among five cities that formed the Phrygian Pentapolis – consisting of Eucarpia, Hierapolis, Bruzus, and Stectorium. Strabo stated it was founded by settlers from Otrea on the Bithynian Coast, and named for their legendary king, Otreus.
