Asia Minor. Uncertain mint
circa 250 BCE
Æ 11 mm, 1,30 g
Unpublished. One copy owned by BCD but could not be attributed.
Tentatively marked as Black Sea Region, but probably Aspendos or Side

The fame this particular coin has is BCD kept a similar one in his collection for years and was never able to attribute it.

It seems likely from the depiction of Athena that the city had some relationship with Athens and perhaps was in the Delian league. However, the plain shield is difficult to determine. It certainly seems like the coins of Aspendos and Side, but that’s my best guess.
