The kyathos was a distinctive type of ancient Greek vessel used primarily as a ladle or dipper. Its characteristic features included a deep, round bowl and a long, often slender handle, usually attached at a sharp angle to one side of the vessel. The handle was typically elegant in design, sometimes ending in decorative elements such as animal heads, floral motifs, or other ornamental shapes. The kyathos was generally smaller than other vessels like the krater or hydria and was designed for specific, practical uses in Greek daily life and rituals.
