While we’re not sure exactly where Seleukeia on the Issos truly was, short of being on the Issos, there has been a suggestion by Ziegler that Seleukos I Nikator refounded the city of Rhosos as Seleukeia on the Issos.

If that’s true, then the city is in the modern Arsuz and was supposedly founded by Cilix, son of Agenor. Harpalos, famous for defrauding Alexander the Great of significant sums of money, fleeing to Athens, and finally meeting his end at Crete, erected a bronze statue of Glykera there. Later, Demetrios I Poliorketes moved a statue of Tyche from Antigonia to there. I’m not sure why they had such a thing for statues.

64 BCE

Seleukeia on the Issos (Rhosos) is annexed by Rome.
