The nome of Sebennyte is today Samannud, Egypt. It was the twelfth nome of Egypt and the seat of the 30th dynasty of Egypt, which lasted from 380 to 343 BCE. After that, Alexandria became its center.
The historian Manetho, who wrote the most important history of Egypt in ancient times, lived in Sebennyte. Three popes from the 7th to the 9th centuries also were from Sebennyte.
