Neocaesarea was originally known as Kabeira, which minted coins earlier. Pompey renamed it Diopolis and we’re not sure when it became Neocaesarea, though it was called that by Pliny. Numismatists believe it was during the time of Tiberius. It was destroyed multiple times by earthquakes.
