Kromna was one of the cities Queen Amastris used to create her capital of Amastris, along with Sesamos. The city was mentioned in Homer’s Catalog of Ships.

Pliny listed it as the home of a strange fish that digs caverns in the ground, then stays there when the river dries up. When water returns, the fish is animated back to life.

300 BCE

The city of Amastris is founded by Amastris, a Persian princess and the niece of the Persian king Darius III. She establishes the city by combining four smaller settlements: Sesamos, Kytoros, Tios, and Kromna.
