Isinda was roughly located at the modern day village of Kişla in Turkey. Although its coinage is not rare, this one has proved to be an interesting puzzle.
Like many coins from Pisidia, this one is dated with EK – which stands for 25. However, we’re not sure what the start date is, so this coin is either from 1/0 BCE or 12/13 CE. There’s also an interesting artifact (a wreath perhaps?) in the upper right corner on the reverse.
I haven’t been able to find this exact type in any references, nor have I found any other example with this date.
189 BCE
Termessos besieges the city Isinda. When the Roman consul Gnaeus Manlius Vulso discovers this, he orders the siege raised and fines Termessos.
