Hermocapelia may also have been called Thyessos. While coinage from Roman times is relatively common, earlier coinage is extremely rare and it’s up for debate whether this coin comes from that city, though the name of the city is very legible.

Although the city was mentioned by Pliny the Elder, it’s best known for its coins – like so many ancient cities. The ancient city was almost completely surrounded by mountains.
