Gaba was located at the modern day Tell Abu Shusha, and many artifacts and ruins – including the remains of an aqueduct – have been found in its excavation. The city was mentioned in Josephus as Gaba Philippi and was populated from at least the Bronze Age. It minted rare coinage during Roman times.
