I must admit that I’m shocked that we have so little history of Birytis today. Perhaps no other city in the Troad minted as many coins during this period, or at least has so many coins reaching us today. Though high quality examples sometimes sell for a bit, they’re among the easiest Greek cities to obtain.

Yet, other than some records of its participation in the Delian League, there isn’t a lot of information about the city. Perhaps they were too busy minting coins to accomplish anything else.
