Beroea was an important city during the time of Alexander the Great, and later served as the capital of the Macedonian Koinon. After the Macedonian defeat to the Romans in 168 BCE, Beroea was the first to fall.
It is located at the modern day city of Veria, Greece, and recently excavations have revealed several interesting sculptures.
