This is an example of federal coinage issued by the Boeotian League. Although Thebes was by far the most famous city, there were other powers in Boeotia, and they worked together in a form of “parliament” where each city, depending on its size, contributed representatives.

Although most Boeotian coinage was minted by individual cities, common coins also existed, such as this one
