It’s believed that Ariassos was founded in the 3rd century BCE. It was first mentioned in 100 BCE but is not mentioned in history often. Augustus later made it part of the Roman province of Galatia. The ruins of the city are still visitable and for some reason have a lot of funerary monuments. It must have not been a very exciting place.

A very interesting entrance still stands to the city. Its coins are relatively rare.
