Next to nothing is known of this ancient Thessalian city other than the fact that they minted coins, which are uncommon. Near the ancient city lies a small farming village today, but I found no mention of the ancient city in Strabo, nor after some searching.
For an unknown city, the coin is intriguing and this appears to be the only type minted. Artemis was the Greek goddess of hunting, and one presumes that was a big thing back in ancient Thessaly, which was somewhat of a backwater then. For example, it appears not to have been ‘civilized’ enough for Pausanias to include the area in his Guide.
