Kamiros was an ancient city on the island of Rhodes that was for a time independent from the rest of the island. In 400 BCE, the island was joined into one political entity, but bronze coins were likely still minted locally for some time.

The ruins of the city are still visitable and in fair shape and are on three levels. In 226 BCE and again in 142 CE it was destroyed by an earthquake.

411 BCE

Sparta sets sail from Knidos and arrives at Kamiros with 94 ships. The inhabitants are at first terrified, but then the Spartans convince all of Rhodes to secede from Athens.

407 BCE

226 BCE

An earthquake destroys Kamiros.

142 CE

Kamiros destroyed for the second time by an earthquake.
