The ruins of Kamarina today reside in the province of Ragusa in Sicily. In the city of Ragusa, a museum exists for the site. One of its streets is also named “Camarine”. Most of its history involves occupations by various larger players in its vicinity, primarily Syracuse, Carthage, and Rome. Its destruction by Carthage in 259 BCE hastened its decline, and by the time of Strabo it was mostly depopulated.
