The worship of Zeus Labrandos was centered around the sanctuary at Labraunda, located in ancient Caria (modern-day Turkey). He was venerated primarily as a protector and benefactor deity, with his cult incorporating regional traditions and symbols that distinguished it from the broader worship of Zeus in the Greek world.

The sanctuary of Zeus Labraundos was situated near the ancient city of Mylasa in Caria. It was a major religious center for the region, and the site was notable for its impressive architecture and sacred groves. The epithet “Labraundos” is believed to derive from the word labrys, a double-headed axe that served as a primary symbol of the deity in this context. The labrys was a significant emblem in Carian culture and was associated with power, authority, and divine protection.
